About Me
Wesley T. Morris is a Research Assistant Professor in the Center for Research in Educational Policy (CREP) at the University of Memphis. His research focuses on the teacher labor market and how education policy shapes who becomes a teacher, where they work, how long they stay, and how they perform in the classroom. His work has examined compensation reform and financial aid for future teachers, as well as localized recruitment strategies and Grow Your Own programs. Broadly, his work falls within the economics of education, and he has also published on online education and begun new work on school choice and rural education. Wesley is committed to bridging research, policy, and practice, and works closely with policymakers and practitioners so that his research is informed by their experience and useful for the decisions they face.
Before joining CREP, Wesley was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Maryland, College Park. He holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.P.P. in Education Policy from Vanderbilt University, and a B.S. in Mathematics from Wake Forest University.
